Abstract
Aunque el número de los estudios en el campo del español para hablantes de herencia ha crecido, aún quedan brechas en la literatura, específicamente cuando se trata de formas efectivas de mejorar la ortografía en los hablantes de herencia del español. El objetivo de esta tesis es desarrollar una decisión, bien informada, sobre si los dictados son herramientas útiles que deberían continuar en mi clase de español para hablantes de herencia. Este estudio se realizó utilizando un enfoque de investigación de acción debido a que el estudio se enfoca en mejorar mi propia instrucción. Para que los dictados fueran considerados útiles en mi salón de clases, se consideró el impacto que tuvieron en la mejora de la ortografía y el autoconcepto de las habilidades lingüísticas de los estudiantes. Palabras clave: hablantes de herencia del español, dictados, ortografía Abstract Even though the field of heritage speakers of Spanish has grown, there still are gaps in the literature, specifically when it comes to effective ways to improve spelling in Spanish heritage speakers. The aim of this thesis is to develop a well-informed decision on whether dictations are useful tools that should be continued in my Spanish for heritage speaker classroom. This study was conducted using an action research approach due to the fact that the study focuses on improving my own classroom instruction. In order for dictations to be deemed useful in my classroom, the impact they had on the improvement of spelling and self-concept of the students’ language abilities were considered.
