Mantor, Lyle Edwin, "The History of Fort Kearney" (1938). Special Collections. 2.
The proper spelling of the fort is Kearny, differing from the local city of Kearney, Nebraska. Willman uses the "Kearney" spelling throughout.
Note that, while this was originally a dissertation conducted at the University of Iowa, Mantor republished the text while chairing the Department of Social Sciences at Nebraska State Teachers College at Kearney.
