Abstract

The feminization of poverty would be defined as the inequality of standard of living between men and women. Why is a it social issue? Women make around 82 cents per every dollar a man makes. Women of color make about 57 cents per dollar a man makes. This impacts women in many ways because women are less likely to receive promotions compared to their male counterparts. This paper will look at the impact of feminization in poverty and the effects that it has on women of color. Women of color often are paid less compared to their female white counterparts which in turn affects their quality of life in terms of accessing affordable healthcare, and affordable housing. Another way would be increasing the resource limits on money and food stamps. often, low-income families especially women of color often risk losing eligibility for housing or government assistance because of these resource limits. There way to improved women and families is by increasing the resource limit by three times the limit gives families a better chance in terms of health quality and access to education and looking at progressive countries policies on affordable housing.
